New Zealand post 293-run lead over England
At lunch on the fourth day of the rain-interrupted Test England were 58 without loss, trailing New Zealand by 235 runs on a placid wicket.
Alastair Cook and Nick Compton were both 25 not out.
New Zealand resumed the day at 402 for seven in their first innings and declared at 460 for nine after a whirlwind start to the day putting on 58 runs in less than nine overs.
Captain Brendon McCullum led the onslaught as he raced from 44 to 74, bringing up his half century with a six off Stuart Broad and following up with two more off James Anderson in the next over.
The England quicks later combined to dismiss McCullum for 74 when he skied a short Broad delivery to be caught by Anderson.
McCullum's overnight partner Bruce Martin advanced from 17 to 41 in his debut Test innings before he was the last batsman out, caught behind off Steven Finn.
Anderson produced the best bowling figures for England, taking four wickets for 137 from 33 overs.
