NBA: Warriors coach Jackson object of extortion
Jackson, who is also a pastor of a southern California church, said he had been the target of the extortion attempt after an extramarital affair, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on Thursday.
Ex-stripper Alexis Adams, 28, and 40-year-old Marcus Shaw allegedly wanted money from Jackson to prevent the release of nude photographs of the Warriors coach.
The FBI said in court documents that Jackson, 47, had an affair with Adams about six years ago.
The married former National Basketball Association player informed the Warriors about the situation and the team contacted the FBI, which launched an investigation that led to the arrests. The pair were charged this week.
The charges against Adams and Shaw were filed in US District Court in Oakland, California. Court documents described the object of the scheme as "a prominent member of the public who now works in Oakland."
But in a statement released on Thursday, the NBA team said Jackson had confirmed that "he and his family" were the object of the alleged plot.
Jackson is the father of four and co-pastor of a nondenominational Christian church he runs with his wife.
