NBA: Pre-season games set for Montreal, Winnipeg
The NBA's only Canadian team, the Toronto Raptors, will play the New York Knicks on October 19 at Montreal and the Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Detroit Pistons on October 24 at Winnipeg.
The NBA Canada Series hopes to follow the success of NBA games staged in Asia, Mexico and Europe.
"NBA Canada Series demonstrates the NBA's commitment to grow basketball in Canada and bring more live games and events to our growing fan base in the country," NBA Canada vice president Dan MacKenzie said.
The NBA pre-season schedule will also include previously announced games in Europe, with the Dallas Mavericks playing games in Germany and Spain and the Boston Celtics playing games in Italy and Turkey.
Last year, the Raptors played New Jersey in the first NBA regular-season games staged in London. Minnesota played in a 1999 regular-season opener in Tokyo.
