2011: Lady Gaga does drag
And once again, Lady Gaga attempts to one-up everyone's evening by wearing something completely eccentric. After the 2010 meat feast, all bets were on for her next fashion statement -- cabbage patch couture, a Jeff Goldblum Fly costume, a dress made from Britney's 2007 wigs perhaps? No. Gaga decided to eschew meat for man and dress as her alter-ego greaser Jo Calderone. Opening the show with an extended monologue/rant about his "girlfriend" Gaga, Jo swore, smoked and generally acted badass before launching into the song "You and I." Later in the evening, as Britney was awarded the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, drag king Gaga unsuccessfully hit on the pop princess in the hope of re-enacting the infamous 2003 lip lock.
