Ben Stiller comedy "Tropic Thunder" topped the North American box office for the second weekend in a row, industry figures showed Monday. Stiller's movie-within-a-movie about a group of actors shooting a war film in the middle of a real-life conflict zone, scooped 16.3 million dollars from Friday to Sunday in the US and Canada, totaling 65.8 million since its opening, according to box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations.

Malaysian authorities have reversed their decision to cancel a concert by Canadian pop-rock star Avril Lavigne, saying Saturday that she can perform next week despite complaints her act is "too sexy." The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry sparked an outcry among music fans when it decided earlier this week not to permit Lavigne's show. The end is near for a bitter legal dispute between the three surviving members of The Doors now that the California Supreme Court has refused to take up their case. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger are on the hook for more than $5 million after they were found by lower courts to have improperly invoked The Doors' name and images during a 2003 concert tour. Thai police said disgraced rocker Gary Glitter agreed Thursday to leave Thailand for London, possibly ending a two-day odyssey that began when he was released from a Vietnamese prison after serving time for molesting children. Disgraced rocker Gary Glitter arrived back in Bangkok on Thursday after Hong Kong denied him entry, continuing a two-day odyssey that began when he was released from a Vietnamese prison after serving time for molesting children. Glitter, a British citizen, flew to Hong Kong on Wednesday night after Thai authorities barred him from entering the country. NASA confirmed on Wednesday that a computer virus sneaked aboard the International Space Station only to be tossed into quarantine on July 25 by security software.
