Russia wants greater access to France for its airlines in exchange for allowing Air France A380 superjumbos to fly over Siberia on the Tokyo route, France's transport minister said on Friday.
"Starting from June, Air France wants to fly an A380 along the Tokyo route," Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau told reporters.
"And in order to fly a plane with more than 500 seats over Siberia we need the agreement of Russian authorities," he said.
Bussereau was speaking on the sidelines of an international conference on aviation safety in Moscow.
An A380 on Friday made its maiden flight for Air France, the first European carrier to make commercial use of the plane.
The aircraft took off from Paris bound for New York.
